The Met Gala 2019
The Met Gala is an event that has always fascinated me. It is an epic moment for all fashion addicts every year to look for the best dressed celebrity and most extravagant outfit that has been worn. In the world of fashion it is one of the most anticipated events.
This year’s Met theme has made all the celebrities go out of their way to impress even if the past years, all celebrities wore their most spectacular gowns. This year was different as the theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. “Camp” here means exaggerated and hence celebrities were expected to walk the carpet in their most extravagant outfits. On the 6th of May 2019, a bunch of celebrities walked the carpet looking extremely lavish. But before jumping right into this year’s celebrity outfits, let’s take a look about what the Met Gala is about.
The met Gala is originally a charity event hosted by by the Fashion industry’s legend, Vogue’s chief editor, Ana Wintour and it is an event that is chaired by different celebrities each year. This year’s chairs were really perfect for the theme; Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Alessandro Michele who are known for their unique and extravagant outfits and Serena Williams. The aim is to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The guest list is very exclusive and the tickets cost thousands of dollars. Most of the guests that attend the Gala are chosen by Ana Wintour herself. The Met Gala is an opportunity for designers who work with celebrities to design the perfect dress or outfit relating to the theme of the Gala to showcase their work.
The five celebrities that really respected this year’s theme and stood out were singer Katy Perry who literally wore a chandelier and the designer was Moschino followed by model Kendall Jenner who combined both elegance and extravaganza in a beautiful feathered orange dress by designer Versace.
Celine Dion was dressed in perfect accordance to the theme and wore an extravagant gown made by Oscar De La Renta. The singer Ciara also really caught the eye of the public with her beautiful green emerald dress and her mesmerizing hairstyle. Finally, the queen of extravaganza herself who was also a co-chair this year, Lady Gaga presented four different outfits on the carpet which were all pretty lavish.
